IHS Nigeria renews push for a sustainable tech sector in Nigeria

IHS Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of a sustainable, resilient and inclusive telecommunications and technology sector in Nigeria.

The company made its position known at a stakeholder breakfast session organised by the Telecommunications and Technology Sustainability Working Group (TTSWG) in Abuja.

Representing IHS Nigeria at the event, the company’s Director of Sustainability, Titilope Oguntuga, said the stakeholder dialogue was important for advancing practical sustainability solutions within the sector.

According to Oguntuga, the session offered stakeholders an opportunity to assess progress achieved so far while identifying areas that require additional action to deepen collaboration around environmental, social and governance priorities.

“TTSWG’s progress reflects a shared and enduring conviction: that technology and innovation remain among the most effective tools available to address the sector’s challenges. This conviction continues to guide the work and partnerships shaping the telecommunications and technology space today,” Oguntuga said.

The Chairman of the TTSWG Board, Abdu-Waya Mohammed, in his opening remarks, said the group’s strategy provided a framework for enhancing collaboration on sustainability across the telecommunications and technology ecosystem.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC), Bankole Oloruntoba, described TTSWG as a multi stakeholder platform established to advance sustainability across the telecommunications and technology ecosystem.

The stakeholder session brought together participants around the need for continued collaboration and practical action to strengthen sustainability efforts within Nigeria’s telecommunications and technology sector.
