The South African BRICS Youth Association, in partnership with the University of South Africa, is set to host the fifth BRICS Summer School South Africa 2026 from September 2 to 3.
The two-day programme will take place at the University of South Africa in Pretoria and is expected to attract approximately 150 participants.
The summer school will focus on major issues surrounding BRICS and its evolving role in global affairs. Discussions will cover the history and development of BRICS, economic cooperation, opportunities within the bloc, global governance reform, diplomacy and the changing position of the Global South.
Students, researchers, young professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, youth leaders and other participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts during the programme.
The event will feature lectures and discussions examining BRICS cooperation and available opportunities, as well as financial cooperation and global governance reform.
The New Development Bank will also form part of the programme’s discussions, alongside broader issues connected to BRICS cooperation.
Beyond the formal sessions, the summer school is expected to facilitate meaningful engagement between local and international participants during the two-day event.
