Rite Foods Limited, Nigeria’s leading indigenous food and beverage company, has been named among the Top 50 Nigerian Companies of Impact for 2026 at this year’s Industry Newspaper Awards.
The recognition honours organisations that contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic and social development through innovation, sustainability, job creation, and measurable impact.
Rite Foods was selected in recognition of its efforts to strengthen the food and beverage sector through investments in modern manufacturing infrastructure, technology, product innovation and sustainable business practices.
Its inclusion also reflects the company’s contributions to local value creation, employment, community development, environmental sustainability and the continued expansion of Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
Over the years, Rite Foods has developed a portfolio of consumer brands that includes Bigi Carbonated Soft Drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, Rite Spicy Beef Sausage, Bigi Beef Sausage and Bigi Flex Sausage.
The company has continued to develop its products, introducing new flavours and packaging solutions aimed at meeting changing consumer preferences while retaining its emphasis on quality and accessibility.
Goddie Ofose, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of Industry Newspaper, said the award was established to acknowledge organisations making meaningful contributions to the transformation of Nigeria’s economic landscape.
“The Top 50 Companies of Impact recognition is designed to celebrate organisations whose activities demonstrate tangible economic, social, and environmental value. Rite Foods distinguished itself through its commitment to innovation, sustainability, environmental preservation, and community development.”
Ofose also pointed to Rite Foods’ environmental initiatives, particularly its Waste-Is-Naira (W.I.N.) programme and Riteonthebeach project, which are focused on plastic waste recovery and raising environmental awareness.
According to him, the initiatives illustrate how corporate sustainability programmes can go beyond a company’s internal operations and contribute to tackling environmental challenges within communities.
Rite Foods’ approach to energy use was also highlighted as a key component of its sustainability strategy.
Ofose said 95 per cent of the company’s energy consumption comes from cleaner energy sources, including natural gas and solar power, while diesel represents approximately five per cent of its energy mix.
