The platform was developed by the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy in partnership with Cavista Holdings. It is intended to improve access to industry information, support business planning and enable investors to make more informed decisions.
The launch took place in Abuja, attracting representatives from government, the private sector and development institutions.
Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said the platform addresses a longstanding gap in reliable, comprehensive data needed to measure the sector’s potential and determine the resources required to develop it.
She explained that investors planning projects such as film production facilities could use the platform to locate creative industry clusters and evaluate the supporting infrastructure available in those areas.
According to Musawa, D30 is designed to provide actionable intelligence rather than simply store government records. Businesses can use the information to plan expansion, investors can assess commercial opportunities, and government agencies can draw on the data when deciding how to allocate resources.
The platform is also expected to assist state governments in identifying tourism assets, evaluating connectivity and infrastructure requirements, and determining where further investment may be needed.
For creative entrepreneurs and small businesses, access to information about industry clusters, tourism destinations and investment requirements could help identify potential markets and improve commercial decision-making.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Abdulkarim Ozi Ibrahim, described the initiative as a significant step towards unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s creative and tourism sectors.
He said the platform could support evidence-based policymaking, improve investors’ understanding of emerging opportunities and provide businesses with information to strengthen their expansion plans and competitiveness.
Olumide Olayomi, Executive Director and Vice President of Government and External Affairs at Cavista Holdings, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the sector through technology and dependable data.
Olayomi said the platform would help public- and private-sector stakeholders identify viable investment opportunities, address infrastructure deficiencies and promote development across the creative and tourism value chains.
He added that Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism destinations and creative industries present opportunities for job creation and wealth generation. However, realising that potential requires reliable information to evaluate opportunities, identify gaps and track progress.
The Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics, Adeyemi Adeniran, was represented at the event by his Technical Assistant, Moses Waniko.
Waniko pledged the bureau’s support for improving data collection, harmonising methodologies and ensuring compliance with national and international statistical standards. He also stressed that the platform’s effectiveness would depend on the quality, consistency and reliability of its data.
Special Adviser to the President on Partnerships and Innovation, Imran Garba Duba, welcomed the launch and called for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the platform delivers meaningful value.
The D30 Platform is part of the ministry’s broader ambition to generate $100 billion in gross domestic product contribution and create three million jobs from Nigeria’s creative and tourism economy by 2030.
Achieving these targets will depend on investment, infrastructure development, effective implementation and the capacity of businesses and other stakeholders to translate the platform’s information into economic activity.
