The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in partnership with Bryte Auto Tech & Diagnostics Ltd, has commenced a two-week specialised training programme for 150 technicians and youths in Kogi, Edo and Oyo states.
The programme began on August 10, 2026, and is being conducted simultaneously across the three states, with 50 participants selected from each location. Max Fon Global Nigeria Ltd is providing technical training and consultancy for the initiative.
The training is centred on heavy-duty vehicles, including agricultural tractors, and provides participants with practical knowledge covering vehicle operation, fault diagnosis, servicing, repairs and maintenance.
In Edo State, 50 participants selected from different parts of the state are receiving hands-on instruction aimed at strengthening their technical competence and improving their ability to identify and repair faults in heavy-duty vehicles and agricultural machinery.
Participants in Kogi and Oyo states are undergoing similar sessions, with 50 beneficiaries from each state. The three-state programme therefore has a combined total of 150 participants.
The initiative is part of NADDC’s efforts to upgrade technical skills, develop human capital and strengthen capacity within Nigeria’s automotive industry.
It also seeks to support existing automotive technicians while equipping young people with practical and employable skills in the heavy-duty vehicle subsector.
The programme’s inclusion of agricultural tractors is intended to expand the pool of skilled technicians able to service and maintain machinery used by farmers and businesses operating within the agricultural sector.
The two-week training is scheduled to end on August 21, when participants are expected to receive certificates of training and empowerment tools. The support is intended to help them apply their newly acquired skills, improve the quality of their technical services and establish or expand their businesses.
Through the programme, NADDC and its partners expect to contribute to a stronger pool of skilled automotive technicians while creating opportunities for beneficiaries to generate income through vehicle maintenance and repair services
