Meta launches paid AI service with tools for creators and firms

Meta Platforms has introduced Meta One, a new subscription service that combines expanded artificial intelligence (AI) access with professional tools for creators and businesses across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The launch is part of the technology company’s efforts to generate additional revenue from its growing investment in AI.

Meta One brings premium features across the three platforms together with broader access to Meta AI tools for content creation, editing, audience management and business operations.

According to Meta, the service is being rolled out globally, with more than 50 features already available and 15 million subscriptions and trials recorded so far.

The company said its core experiences on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Meta AI will continue to be available for free. Paid subscriptions, however, offer higher usage limits and specialised features.

For individual users and people who make extensive use of AI, Meta One has two plans: Core, priced at $7.99 per month, and Premium, which costs $19.99 monthly. Both combine features from Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus with expanded access to AI-powered tools.

Subscribers will have greater access to image and video generation through Meta AI, including Meta’s Muse models. They will also receive access to AI-driven creative features such as Restyle on Instagram, voice effects and other content creation tools.

Meta said the Premium plan is intended to provide additional capacity for users with higher AI usage needs.

The company has also created four Meta One tiers specifically for creators and businesses: Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max. Monthly prices start at $14.99 for Essential, $49.99 for Advanced, $149 for Expert and $499 for Max.

Meta noted that pricing, features and availability can differ depending on the region, application and account.

The Essential tier is aimed at creators and businesses seeking to build and manage their online presence. Its features include expanded access to Meta Business Agent for customer responses, a verified badge, a verified WhatsApp Business channel and impersonation protection, subject to successful verification.

Advanced adds further business-management capabilities. Users can schedule Stories up to 30 days ahead, attach links to organic posts and Reels, export analytics and obtain more detailed audience insights.

The plan also enables businesses to provide team members with account access without requiring them to share passwords. Additional linked devices and WhatsApp business broadcast credits are included as well.

For organisations and teams requiring greater capacity, Meta said the Expert and Max tiers are designed to provide increased feature access and greater Meta Business Agent capacity for managing operations at scale.

Meta also plans to introduce Edits Plus to Meta One. The addition will offer more cloud storage for content projects and increased access to an AI assistant that can analyse Instagram insights and help users develop content ideas.

The company said it intends to extend Meta One to additional products in the future, including AI glasses.

The subscription launch follows Meta’s continued effort to make AI a central component of its future products and revenue strategy. Earlier in September, the company introduced Muse, describing it as a personal AI agent capable of performing tasks for users and designed to operate across services they regularly use.

For creators and small businesses, the new subscription options bring content production, customer engagement, analytics and account-management tools into Meta’s existing social media ecosystem.

Businesses already using Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp for marketing and customer communication can therefore access more advanced capabilities through a single subscription.

The move comes amid a wider shift among technology companies towards direct consumer and business payments for advanced AI capabilities, as the cost of developing, training and operating increasingly sophisticated AI systems continues to increase.
