DP World and Nigeria-based Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group have partnered to strengthen logistics and supply chain operations in Nigeria, with plans to create a platform for expansion into other West African markets.
The agreement combines DP World’s global logistics and supply chain expertise with TGI Group’s extensive distribution network, local market knowledge and operational experience.
Under the arrangement, DP World Logistics Limited will continue its existing Nigerian operations, including road freight and contract logistics, while expanding its services and exploring new offerings such as fourth-party logistics (4PL).
The companies said the deal would improve the movement of goods, strengthen supply chains and help Nigerian businesses connect more efficiently to regional and global markets.
TGI Group is also expected to benefit from logistics and operational support from DP World as the companies seek to improve supply chain efficiency and optimise operations.
DP World Logistics already operates in Nigeria, providing logistics and market access services supporting the healthcare and consumer sectors. The new arrangement will build on those operations and create opportunities to broaden the company’s logistics offering.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of DP World Africa, Mohammed Akoojee, described Nigeria as a critical market for the future of trade in Africa.
He said the agreement would strengthen supply chains and create new opportunities for businesses operating in Nigeria and across the region.
“Together, we will strengthen supply chains, improve the movement of goods and unlock new opportunities for growth in Nigeria and beyond,” Akoojee said.
Subject to regulatory approval, TGI Group will become a shareholder in DP World Logistics’ Nigerian business, while DP World will retain majority ownership.
TGI Group Vice Chairman Farouk Gumel said the agreement reflected the companies’ ambition to reshape trade and logistics across Africa.
He said combining DP World’s international logistics capabilities with TGI’s local market knowledge and distribution network would help create more resilient supply chains and improve regional connectivity.
The initiative will initially focus on Nigeria before potentially expanding into other West African markets.
For Nigerian businesses, stronger logistics and distribution networks could improve the movement of products within the country and make it easier to reach customers and markets beyond Nigeria.
The collaboration comes as businesses across West Africa seek more efficient supply chains to reduce operational bottlenecks, improve market access and support cross-border trade.
By bringing together local distribution capabilities and international logistics expertise, the companies said the initiative would support more efficient movement of goods and create opportunities for businesses to scale within Nigeria and the wider West African market.
