Camtel expands fibre connectivity to schools throughout Cameroon

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) is extending its optical fibre network to educational institutions across the country as part of efforts to strengthen digital inclusion in the education sector.

The telecommunications company said the rollout is reaching schools in communities spanning Cameroon’s northern and southern regions, as well as areas in the east and west.

According to Camtel, the programme is designed to improve internet availability within schools and enable students to access a wider range of digital educational resources.

The company said greater connectivity could help young people gain more equal access to learning opportunities and educational content available around the world.

The school connectivity initiative is part of Camtel’s wider efforts to advance digital inclusion and encourage the use of technology in education across Cameroon. The company considers reliable connectivity an important means of widening access to educational resources.
