Applications are open for the 2026 WWF-Amano Fellows Program, a nine-month mentorship initiative being offered by WWF Zimbabwe in partnership with Amano to support emerging conservation leaders.

The programme is targeted at young leaders from Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities and is designed to help nurture the next generation of leaders working in conservation and sustainable development.

Participants will take part in expert-led workshops, peer-to-peer learning and mentorship sessions covering leadership, conservation and sustainable development.

The opportunity is open to Zimbabwean young leaders between the ages of 21 and 30 who have demonstrated leadership experience and can show a proven record of creating meaningful impact within their communities or region.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive conservation and sustainable development. Preference will be given to candidates who are from or work closely with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

Eligible candidates must have reliable internet access as well as access to a laptop or mobile phone. They must also be fluent in English and able to dedicate approximately 5–8 hours each month to programme activities.

The organisers also stated that participation in the programme will not come with any financial benefits.

Those selected for the fellowship will have opportunities to develop their leadership and communication abilities while learning from experienced conservation and development practitioners. They will also participate in expert-led workshops and peer discussions, receive guidance through mentorship sessions and build networks with other young leaders working to create positive change.

The programme is further expected to strengthen participants’ capacity to advance inclusive and community-centred conservation.

Applicants are required to submit their CV along with written responses to four questions.

The first question asks: “Why should WWF consider you for the Amano Fellows Program?” Applicants must respond in no more than 100 words.

The second asks candidates to describe their leadership journey and impact, including the lasting change they have created in their community or region. Responses must not exceed 150 words.

The third question requires applicants to explain how they have demonstrated their commitment to values-based leadership, also within a maximum of 150 words.

For the fourth question, applicants must explain how the Amano Fellows Program will benefit them and their work. The response should be no more than 250 words.
