The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) have reiterated their commitment to transforming the institute into a globally recognised hub for digital skills development, research, innovation and policy advancement.

The renewed commitment was highlighted over the weekend during the inaugural meeting of DBI’s newly appointed interim governing board, chaired by Oforitsenere Emiko, managing director of Kian Smith Trade & Co Ltd.

Speaking at the meeting, DBI President and Chief Executive Officer, David Daser, described the gathering as the beginning of a new chapter in the institute’s strategic transformation. He said the initiative is designed to position DBI as Nigeria’s leading institution for digital capacity development while establishing it as a world-class centre of excellence.

According to Daser, the institute is intensifying efforts to equip Nigerians with the knowledge, skills and opportunities needed to succeed in the fast-changing digital economy through the strategic direction of the governing board and the continued backing of the NCC.

“I had the honour of welcoming the newly appointed interim chairman of the governing board of the Digital Bridge Institute, Princess Oforitsenere Emiko, alongside other distinguished board members, as we held the inaugural meeting of the board at our headquarters in Abuja,” Daser said.

He noted that the inauguration of the interim governing board marks another significant step in repositioning DBI as Nigeria’s foremost institution for digital skills development, research, innovation and policy leadership.

Daser also expressed confidence in working closely with Emiko and other members of the governing board, including Abraham Oshadami and Rimini Makama, to fast-track the institute’s transformation agenda.

He added that collaboration among the governing board, DBI’s management and the NCC would further enhance the institute’s ability to provide high-quality digital skills training while contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s broader digital transformation goals.

“The future is digital, and we remain committed to ensuring Nigeria is not just a participant but a leader in shaping it,” Daser said.
