UNILAG Professor secures dual grants for sustainability research

The Co-Director of the Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria, Professor Peter Elias, has secured two significant grant awards to advance research and innovation in sustainable development.

Details of the two research grants, funded by Mastercard Foundation and University of Cambridge Climate Resilience and Sustainability Research Fund (CReSus RF), are:

  • – Title of Project: Applying Transdisciplinary and Youth-Driven Citizen Science for a Healthy Climate-Resilient, Lagos
    – Grant Holder: Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge in collaboration with University of Lagos through Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD)
    – Project Duration: Monday, September 1, 2025 to Friday, January 1, 2027
    – Title of Project: Anticipate, Transform: Upskilling Researchers to Co-create Policy-Relevant Research for Healthy Sustainable Urban Futures
    – Grant Holder: Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, University of Cambridge in collaboration with University of Lagos through Centre for Housing and Sustainable Development (CHSD)
    The project, accordjng to information the the website of the institution is expected to run from Monday, December 1, 2025 to Tuesday, December 1, 2026.

  • The awards mark a major milestone in ongoing efforts by CHSD, UNILAG to address critical housing and sustainability challenges across Africa.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on behalf of UNILAG Senate, staff and students congratulates Prof. Peter Elias on this achievement.
