Kwara State has recorded the highest performance in Northern Nigeria in the recently concluded Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) conducted by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), posting a 93.8 per cent pass rate.
The recognition was communicated to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in a congratulatory letter signed by the Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Mrs Ronke Soyombo.
According to the council, a total of 678 candidates registered for the examination, while 616 candidates eventually sat for the test. Of those who participated, 578 candidates passed, translating to a 93.8 percent success rate.
TRCN said the result reflected the high calibre of educators being developed under the AbdulRahman AbdulRazq administration.
Reacting to the recognition, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, described the achievement as an independent validation of the state government’s sustained investment in education and teacher quality.
He said the strong performance was linked to the administration’s standardised and merit-based teacher recruitment process, which is designed to ensure that only qualified and competent professionals are employed to teach in public schools.
Olohungbebe also praised the teachers who successfully completed the examination, commending their outstanding performance and commitment to raising the standard of teaching and learning across Kwara State.
According to the commissioner, continued government investment in teacher development and education reforms has strengthened classroom instruction while contributing to improved learning outcomes across the state.
He also welcomed TRCN’s willingness to work with the state government to address identified gaps in mathematics through targeted professional development programmes for teachers.
Olohungbebe reaffirmed the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to maintaining policies that encourage excellence and professionalism while aligning with global best practices.
