Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) has acquired the OCL data centre in Kanengo, Lilongwe, in a move aimed at expanding its digital infrastructure and supporting the continued growth of digital services in Malawi.
The telecommunications operator said the acquisition will strengthen its infrastructure base while helping to improve service quality, provide reliable internet solutions and expand enterprise offerings, including Data Centre as a Service.
According to TNM, the facility will also serve as a platform for developing new digital services. These include its Mpamba digital financial services platform, alongside emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and AI-as-a-Service.
The acquisition is part of TNM’s wider growth strategy and reflects its efforts to develop digital infrastructure that supports Malawi’s long-term development objectives under the Malawi 2063 agenda.
TNM said the additional infrastructure capacity will allow the company to deliver greater value to customers while contributing to Malawi’s transition towards a digitally enabled middle-income economy.
