The Chairman of Suleja Council Area, Isyaku Naibi, has called on the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) to give priority to the rehabilitation of dilapidated primary schools across the council area.

Naibi made the appeal during a strategic working visit to the NSUBEB headquarters in Minna, where discussions centred on the worsening condition of public primary schools in Suleja and the need for stronger collaboration to improve access to quality basic education.

During the meeting, the council chairman expressed concern over the poor state of infrastructure in many public primary schools, noting that children should have access to safe, conducive and inspiring environments for learning.

He stressed that investing in basic education is critical to safeguarding the future of the younger generation while supporting sustainable development within communities.

Naibi also urged the board to prioritise the renovation, rehabilitation and upgrading of dilapidated school buildings across Suleja.

In addition, he highlighted the urgent need for more classrooms, desks, instructional materials, water and sanitation facilities, perimeter fencing and other essential infrastructure needed to enhance teaching and learning in public primary schools.

Responding to the appeal, the Executive Chairman of NSUBEB, Ibrahim Liman, commended Naibi for demonstrating proactive leadership and commitment to improving education within the council area.

Liman assured the Suleja Council chairman that the board remains committed to working with the council to address the identified challenges through available intervention programmes and future projects.
