opay launches 49-day savings campaign with 27% interest, ₦77m pool to reward regular savers now

OPay has launched a 49-day OWealth savings campaign offering 27% annual interest and access to an additional ₦77 million pool for eligible customers.

OPay has introduced a 49-day savings campaign designed to encourage Nigerians to save consistently while earning returns on their funds.

The 7 Savings Festival, powered by OWealth, will run from August 10 to September 27, 2026, allowing customers to create Target Savings plans ranging from ₦77,000 to ₦777,000 and work towards their financial goals.

Customers who complete their savings targets without making an early withdrawal will earn interest at 27 per cent per annum, calculated daily. Eligible participants will also have the opportunity to share in an additional ₦77 million interest pool.

The campaign comes amid rising living costs that have made regular saving more difficult for many Nigerians. OPay said the initiative is intended to provide financial rewards while encouraging customers to develop saving as a consistent financial habit.

Commenting on the campaign, OPay Chief Commercial Officer, Elizabeth Wang, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to helping Nigerians build stronger financial habits.

According to the company, customers who consistently save towards their financial targets can benefit from the 27 per cent annual interest while improving their financial confidence.

The initiative also reflects the expanding role of digital financial services, with fintech platforms increasingly offering tools designed to support savings and financial planning in addition to traditional payment services.

Powered by OWealth, OPay’s digital savings platform, the campaign allows customers to monitor their savings goals, follow their progress and view their rewards throughout the promotional period.

To participate, customers are required to log into the OPay app, navigate to the 7 Savings Festival page and create a Target Savings plan between ₦77,000 and ₦777,000.

New Target Savings plans can be created until September 20, 2026, while final interest earnings and distributions from the additional ₦77 million interest pool will take place on September 27, 2026.

OPay said the campaign forms part of its wider efforts to advance financial inclusion and improve financial well-being by making savings more accessible and rewarding.

Established in 2018, OPay provides digital financial services that include money transfers, bill payments, card services, airtime and data purchases, as well as merchant payments.

The company said it is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and that customers’ deposits are insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation under the applicable deposit insurance framework.
