The Kogi House of Assembly has commended the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Mustapha Abdullahi, for facilitating the establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in the state.

The commendation was adopted in a resolution during Thursday’s plenary after a motion sponsored by Suleiman Abdulrazak.

Lawmakers specifically acknowledged Abdullahi’s role in establishing the Barefoot Renewable Energy College at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

Presenting the motion, Abdulrazak said the recognition was in appreciation of the ECN director-general’s contributions to the growth of the institution and his efforts to advance renewable energy education in Kogi State.

He described Abdullahi as a leader whose contributions have had a positive impact on both Kogi State and Nigeria.

In a separate development, the House confirmed Saliu Ali as a permanent member of the Kogi Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) after he successfully underwent legislative screening.

Members of the Assembly described Ali as an experienced public servant and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to improving the delivery of basic education across the state.

Speaker of the House, Aliyu Yusuf, who chaired the screening committee, urged the newly confirmed board member to discharge his responsibilities with transparency and diligence.

Responding after his confirmation, Ali expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Ododo for the appointment and thanked the Assembly for approving his nomination.

He also pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders to strengthen the provision of quality basic education in Kogi State.
