Ibrahim Kabir-Masari, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on political and other matters, has launched a scholarship programme for Katsina State indigenes pursuing medical and healthcare-related courses in Nigerian universities.

Mr Masari announced the initiative in a statement issued in Katsina on Thursday.

The programme, named the Ibrahim Kabir Masari Medical Students Scholarship, is intended to provide financial assistance and encouragement to qualified students while supporting the development of future healthcare professionals.

According to Mr Kabir-Masari, the scheme is aimed at helping produce professionals who can contribute to stronger healthcare services and improved community well-being.

The scholarship is open to students enrolled in medicine and surgery, dentistry, nursing science, pharmacy and medical laboratory science.

Students studying physiotherapy, radiography, optometry, anatomy and physiology, along with other recognised medical and healthcare-related programmes, are also eligible.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be indigenes of Katsina State and students of accredited universities in Nigeria.

“They must also be studying eligible medical or healthcare-related programmes, possess valid national identification numbers and provide complete academic and identity documentation,” he said.

Mr Kabir-Masari said prospective beneficiaries would submit their applications online and would not be required to create accounts before applying.

He said the initiative demonstrated his commitment to supporting young people through education while investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals from Katsina.

According to him, the scholarship is expected to help eligible students achieve their academic goals and, after graduation, contribute to the growth and development of the healthcare sector.
