Applications are now open for the FAWE Mastercard Foundation Bursary Programme 2026/2027, providing fully funded bursaries to young people in Ghana who face financial and other barriers to accessing tertiary education.
The programme is being implemented by the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Ghana Chapter under the FAWE/Mastercard Foundation Phase II Programme.
The bursary is available to students pursuing STEM-related programmes at selected partner Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Ghana.
Applicants must have completed WASSCE or Certificate II and qualify for tertiary education. They must also demonstrate financial need and be between 15 and 25 years old at the time of application.
The opportunity is open to applicants from any of Ghana’s 16 regions, provided they have already gained admission into one of FAWE Ghana’s partner institutions. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to giving back to their communities through service and development.
Information submitted during the application process, including details about applicants’ household and living conditions, may be verified.
Eligible applicants must have admission into one of the following partner institutions:
- Accra Technical University
- Bolgatanga Technical University
- Cape Coast Technical University
- Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University
- Ho Technical University
- Koforidua Technical University
- Kumasi Technical University

- University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED)
A total of 200 fully funded bursaries are available for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Under the allocation, 80% of the bursaries are reserved for female applicants, while 20% are reserved for male applicants. Between 5% and 15% of the bursaries are allocated to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), while opportunities are also available for young people with refugee or internally displaced person (IDP) status.
Successful beneficiaries will receive support for either a 3-year Higher National Diploma (HND) or a 2-year Diploma programme in STEM-related fields.
The bursary programme is particularly intended for brilliant but marginalised young people who have secured admission to an eligible institution but face financial difficulties that could prevent them from continuing their education.
Female applicants, Persons with Disabilities, refugees and internally displaced young people are particularly encouraged to apply.
Interested and eligible applicants are required to complete the online application form for the FAWE Mastercard Foundation Bursary.
