Defence Properties Limited (DPL) is repositioning its operations with a focus on improving productivity, expanding its real estate activities and enhancing welfare for personnel of the Armed Forces.

DPL Chief Executive Officer, Isaiah Allison, disclosed this in a statement issued by the company’s management on Friday.

Allison assumed office on July 10, taking over from Sebhil Adeyemo at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters in Guzape, Abuja.

He said the new administration was working to strengthen the company’s operations while increasing its capacity to generate resources that would support effective administration and personnel welfare.

The strategy, he explained, would also promote the effective management of defence properties for the benefit of personnel serving in the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force.

“The development is in line with the strategic philosophy of the chief of defence staff, Gen Olufemi Oluyede, anchored on greater jointness, sound administration and improved welfare. The philosophy seeks to strengthen the operational capacity of the Armed Forces while sustaining its core responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and prosperity,” he said.

Allison said DPL had started converting the administration’s strategic priorities into practical measures aimed at improving productivity and service delivery.

He identified the company’s maiden retreat, themed “Launching Out with Clarity and Focus,” as one of the initiatives designed to establish a clear direction for the new administration.

The retreat took place from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16 at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess in Asokoro, Abuja. According to Allison, the meeting gave staff an opportunity to assess the company’s operations and develop strategies for improving performance.

He further said staff development was a key component of the administration’s plans, noting that having a motivated and professionally equipped workforce was essential to delivering on DPL’s objectives.

The administration also plans to broaden DPL’s real estate activities nationwide as part of measures to raise productivity and increase the company’s contribution to the welfare of Armed Forces personnel.

Allison disclosed that the company had commenced inspections of its facilities to determine their condition and identify opportunities for better utilisation.

He added that DPL was also deepening cooperation with sister companies operating under Defence Holdings Company Limited, with the aim of improving efficiency and identifying areas where the businesses could derive mutual benefits.

“Accordingly, DPL on August 21 paid courtesy visits to Defence Farms/Agro-Allied Products Limited and Defence Engineering Services Limited. The visits provided an opportunity for the companies to identify areas of cooperation and strengthen synergy within the Defence Holdings Company Limited,” he added.

Allison said the administration would continue working towards creating a more productive and sustainable DPL that could make a stronger contribution to the welfare of Armed Forces personnel.

He said the company’s long-term goal was to bring together sound administration, business expansion and effective management of defence properties to deliver greater value to the Armed Forces.

According to him, DPL management remains committed to advancing the wider welfare objectives of the Armed Forces through affordable housing and other property-related initiatives.
