Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has opened applications for the Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Program 2026, an engineering development opportunity under the company’s Plant and Equipment Department (PED).

The structured programme is intended to strengthen local engineering capacity while preparing participants for potential progression into future Workshop Supervisor and Workshop Manager positions.

The opportunity is open to Nigerian engineers with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or a related technical field. Applicants are required to have 2–3 years of experience in maintenance, repairs, fleet management or engineering support within PED.

Candidates must also provide a written recommendation from a current Supervisor or Manager confirming their good conduct, discipline, technical suitability and readiness for further development.

Other requirements include a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical or hydraulic systems, as well as the ability to interpret technical manuals, diagrams and workshop documentation. Applicants should demonstrate good diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, responsibility, integrity and safety awareness.

The programme also requires candidates to have good communication skills, a willingness to guide others and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Selected engineers will receive practical, hands-on training in workshop operations, with exposure to equipment maintenance, repairs and technical support.

Participants will also have access to a monthly salary, professional and career development, hands-on technical experience, and exposure to workshop operations and fleet management. The programme further provides opportunities for mentorship and knowledge transfer, alongside training opportunities through the Julius Berger Academy.

According to the programme details, participants may also have a potential career pathway towards Workshop Supervisor and Workshop Manager roles, in addition to employee welfare and professional development support.

As part of their responsibilities, participants will support the Workshop Supervisor with repair, servicing and maintenance activities. Their duties will also cover equipment inspection and quality control, Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), monitoring technical performance indicators, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Engineers will also be expected to provide technical guidance to mechanics, electricians and technicians, ensure compliance with workshop safety and quality standards, and maintain accurate technical and inspection records.

The programme is aimed particularly at experienced Nigerian mechanical, electrical and automobile engineers seeking to strengthen their practical engineering capabilities and establish a long-term career in plant and equipment operations.

Applicants should note that the opportunity is not a general graduate trainee programme. The published requirements specifically require 2–3 years of relevant experience.
