Tech Women Fest opens laptop applications to young women in tech

Applications are now open for the Tech Women Fest Laptop Initiative 2026, a programme created to support young women in Nigeria who are pursuing careers in technology but do not have access to a personal computer.

The initiative is designed to help address the digital access gap by providing selected beneficiaries with laptops they can use to learn, practise technical skills, develop technology projects and strengthen their professional careers.

Young women living in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States are eligible to apply. Successful applicants are expected to receive their laptops during Tech Women Fest Lagos in October 2026.

The Laptop Initiative forms part of Tech Women Fest Lagos 2026 and focuses on limited access to personal computing devices as one of the practical challenges that can hinder young women’s progress in the technology sector.

Access to a laptop can support aspiring technology professionals in taking online courses, practising technical skills, developing projects, creating professional portfolios and pursuing employment or freelance opportunities.

The initiative is therefore targeted at young women who are actively building careers in technology and need a personal laptop to support their learning and professional development.

To qualify, applicants must reside in Lagos, Ogun or Oyo State and be currently pursuing or developing a career in technology. They must also require access to a personal laptop for learning and professional development, be willing to register for Tech Women Fest Lagos and complete the separate Laptop Initiative application.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate how receiving a laptop would contribute to their technology journey and career development.

Successful beneficiaries will receive a personal laptop to support their technology careers, along with access to a device for learning and skills development. The laptop can also be used to build projects and develop a professional portfolio, while recipients will participate in the Tech Women Fest Lagos ecosystem.

The initiative is intended to provide practical support to beneficiaries as they continue developing their skills and pursuing opportunities in the technology sector.

Applicants must complete two separate steps before the deadline.

First, they are required to register for Tech Women Fest Lagos through Tech Women Fest.

After registering for the event, applicants must complete the separate Laptop Initiative application form through the Laptop Initiative application form.

Applicants are advised to complete both registration and the laptop application before the deadline.

The application deadline is September 5, 2026.
