The Poly International College Ilaro decouples into junior, senior secondary schools

By Samuel Odu

The management board of The Poly International College, the staff secondary school of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State has unbundled the post primary school into junior and senior secondary schools for the purpose of efficiency and easy administration. The new development will effectively take off in September 2024 in the new academic session.

The decision for the fragmentation of the school was announced by the board of the schools recently at a meeting with the members of staff after the board rose from her statutory meeting.

This is part of the vision of the new management board to take the school to a greater height in terms of academic and moral excellence that the school is known for.

The chairman of the board of the schools, Dr. S.R Mohammed revealed the decision of the board to decouple the school at the meeting as well as the officers of the two schools.

The appointment of officers of the junior secondary school include the pioneer principal Rev. Babatola Abioye; Mbuko Erastus as the vice principal administration; Adeboye Morenikeji as the vice principal academics while Akinloye Kikelomo was appointed as the registrar of the school and Adewunmi Ismail was made the school librarian. The confidential secretary of the school is Ezeh Suzan.

In the senior secondary school category, Akinlolu Remilekun remains the principal of the school and she is to be assisted by Ayeleke Oladunni as the vice principal academics and Dr. Odu Adejare as the vice principal administration. Ejiogu Franklyn is the school Librarian and Akinyemi Tajudeen is the registrar of the school while Fabode Christianah is the confidential secretary.

Moreover, some of the management board members of the schools used the avenue to congratulate and encourage the crop of new officers of the school and other members of staff.

Alhaji Umar Bashir, the chairman academic board for the schools noted that it is not going to be business as usual but there is provision for rewards and promotions are performance based.

Ade Adebayo, a member of the board popularly known as ‘echo’ lent his voice at the meeting while encouraging the staff to see the new development as a way to dare the impossible and aiming at nothing but victory.

Dr Olapeju, a member of the board told the staff to take ownership of the school and hope for the best as the board has actually provided a framework to accommodate every member of staff to climb to the peak of their career.

In the final words of the man at the helm of supervision of the school, Dr. S.R Mohammed, he sounded a word of caution that being in the junior school as a teacher should not be perceived as a relegation but they should understand that it is the place where their teaching activities are domiciled.

“The hint is that teachers in both junior and senior secondary schools are equal.”

He equally added that the new development is to aid efficiency in service delivery and ease in carrying out administrative duties.
