PEARL Awards unveil 2026 edition as three new Board members join

The PEARL Awards will stage its 2026 edition on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, as Nigeria’s capital market community prepares for another celebration of corporate excellence.

The event will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring the Future,” and will recognise outstanding performance and excellence across Nigeria’s capital market.

The 2026 edition comes after the PEARL Awards marked its 30th anniversary last year, ushering the platform into a new phase focused on building on its three-decade legacy while looking ahead to the future of the capital market.

President/CEO of PEARL Awards Nigeria, Mr. Tayo Orekoya, disclosed the development in a release issued by the PEARL Awards Project Manager, Mr. Olisemeka Obi.

According to Orekoya, the 2026 edition will preserve the standards established over the past three decades while placing greater emphasis on the future development of Nigeria’s capital market.

“The PEARL Awards has, for three decades, provided a credible platform for recognizing excellence, promoting best practices and celebrating institutions and individuals who contribute significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s capital market. This year, we are not only celebrating excellence; we are challenging the market to inspire the future.”

In a move aimed at strengthening the governance structure and professional capacity of the organisation, three distinguished professionals have also been inaugurated into the PEARL Awards Board.

The new Board members are Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, Managing Director/CEO of Edfin Microfinance Bank; Mr. Ibrahim Boyi, former Executive Commissioner, Corporate Services, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and Mr. Johnson Chukwu, Managing Director, Cowry Asset Management Limited.

Orekoya said the appointments demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to expanding the expertise and experience available within the leadership of the Awards.

He added: “We are delighted to welcome these accomplished professionals to the PEARL Awards Board. Their experience and knowledge will add significant value as we continue to strengthen the Awards and position them for an even greater impact on the capital market.”

The PEARL Awards is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most credible awards, with its reputation linked to an objective and rigorous process for determining winners.

Its selection process is evidence-based, with winners determined strictly through empirical facts, figures and measurable performance derived from companies’ activities in the capital market.

The 2026 PEARL Awards Nite is expected to bring together leading participants and stakeholders from Nigeria’s financial and capital market ecosystem.

The gathering will provide an opportunity to celebrate institutions, companies and individuals whose performance and contributions have helped advance the country’s financial and capital markets.
