NPRGS Fashion Design Training: Apply for Government Skills and Business Opportunity

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, has opened an opportunity for eligible Nigerians to apply for the Fashion Design Track under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS).

The training is aimed at providing participants with practical skills in fashion design and garment making that can support employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable income generation.

The initiative forms part of the NPRGS approach to poverty reduction and economic growth through practical technical and vocational education. It is being powered by the Office of the SSA to the President on TVEE as part of broader government efforts to provide Nigerians with market-relevant skills and expand access to income-generating opportunities.

The Fashion Design Track is specifically designed for individuals seeking to strengthen their abilities in fashion design and related areas. The programme provides technical and vocational upskilling for people who either have an existing foundation in fashion design and garment making or are interested in developing their practical capabilities in the sector.

The opportunity is open to Nigerians who have an interest in or existing foundation in fashion design and garment making, want to improve their technical and practical fashion skills, or intend to establish a career or business in the fashion industry.

Applicants are also expected to be committed to completing the training programme and willing to use the skills gained to create economic opportunities.

Previous NPRGS skills initiatives have emphasised practical and income-generating skills, with fashion design and tailoring among areas that have featured in the training programmes.

Successful participants in the Fashion Design Track will receive technical and vocational training in fashion design while improving their practical garment-making capabilities. The programme is also expected to help participants develop skills applicable to employment and entrepreneurship.

In addition, participants will gain knowledge that can support the development of a fashion business and access opportunities intended to strengthen economic self-reliance.

The NPRGS empowerment approach has previously included startup tools and equipment for beneficiaries. For fashion design participants, this has included portable sewing machines.

Training under the Fashion Design Track will focus on fashion design, garment construction, clothing production, design and creativity, practical sewing techniques and fashion entrepreneurship.

Interested Nigerians are required to complete the online application form and provide accurate information as requested. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review all information entered before submitting their forms.
