Jenniez School of African Interior Design (JSAID), in partnership with FCMB SheVentures, has trained 100 interior designers in financial literacy, business management and enterprise development.
The programme was structured to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills to strengthen their business operations, make sound financial decisions and develop sustainable enterprises alongside their creative work.
The training brought together JSAID’s expertise in interior design education, professional development and entrepreneurship with the financial and business development support offered through FCMB SheVentures.
Participants received practical guidance on business management, accessing suitable financial solutions and developing strategies aimed at achieving sustainable business growth.
The initiative also focused on a major challenge within the interior design industry: enabling creative professionals to transform their skills and expertise into commercially viable businesses.
Nnenna Jacob-Ogogo, Group Head, SheVentures and Impact Segment, FCMB, said entrepreneurs require more than financial access to build successful businesses.
“At FCMB SheVentures, we recognise that entrepreneurs need more than access to finance to thrive. They also need knowledge, networks, and confidence to build businesses that can scale and create lasting value,” she said.
According to her, the partnership with JSAID demonstrates FCMB SheVentures’ commitment to supporting women operating across various sectors, including the creative industry.
Founder of JSAID, Dr Jennifer Chukwujekwe, said the programme was designed to address gaps in the business and financial knowledge of professionals working in interior design.
“Creative ability may open the door, but sound business management is what enables a designer to build an enduring enterprise,” she said.
The initiative aligns with JSAID’s objective of developing African interior designers capable of competing globally, establishing sustainable businesses and contributing to the creative economy.
FCMB SheVentures, the women-focused business proposition of First City Monument Bank, provides women entrepreneurs with access to finance, mentorship, business support and networks to support the growth of their businesses.
