IHS Towers Nigeria, a major provider of telecommunications infrastructure, exclusively hosted its management and staff to screenings of the ground-breaking documentary ‘Earth Women’, from the CSR-in-Action at EbonyLife Cinemas in Lekki, Lagos, on Friday, March 31, and Friday, May 12, 2023.
Earth Women is a thought-provoking documentary that sheds light on critical human rights issues faced by women from extractive communities, and more importantly, their leadership responses to them. It is an initiative of CSR-in-Action Advocacy’s programming focused on women, SITEI Woman, primarily funded by Ford Foundation.
“The job you set out to do has been done because we didn’t know all of these before we came here. We are more aware and sensitised now”, endorsed Ejemen Okojie, IHS Towers Nigeria’s Director of Organisational Development and Talent Management.
She also extended gratitude to the production team for creating such a touching and thought-provoking documentary that highlights the challenges faced by women living in extractive communities.
This exceptional documentary, conceptualised by Bekeme Olowola, Chief Executive of CSR-in-Action, and co-executive producers acclaimed Nollywood actress and producer Ego Boyo, and Meka Olowola, branding and oil and gas expert, illuminates the challenges encountered in their everyday lives and the obstacles that may hinder them from reaching their full potential.
Olowola during the welcome and introductory remarks at the first screening stressed the fact that human rights apply to all people, saying, “Human rights are inherent to every human being, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or any other attribute. The film, Earth Women, serves as a potent reminder of the importance of protecting these fundamental rights and tackling the challenges that women confront everywhere.

Notably, it received the Best Documentary Short – Spotlight on Women Award at the Royal Cocoa International Film Festival. Additionally, at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards 2022 in New York, Earth Women was honoured with the Silver Award in the unforgettable films category. (Watch the Earth Women trailer HERE)
