First Ally Capital invests in Mathesis Analytics to accelerate pan-African Fintech expansion

Mathesis Analytics, a Nigerian financial technology company focused on Artificial Intelligence-powered credit decisioning infrastructure, has secured a strategic investment from institutional investor First Ally Capital to strengthen its expansion plans across Africa.

The company disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the funding will support the scaling of its core mission by enhancing the intelligence and infrastructure designed to bridge the credit gap for millions of unscored and under-scored individuals across Nigeria.

Speaking on the investment, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mathesis Analytics, Winston Osuchukwu, said:

“True financial inclusion cannot be achieved in a vacuum; it requires structural collaboration in which lenders and fintech companies work as partners within the ecosystem.

“This investment from First Ally Capital validates our approach to reshaping credit infrastructure. By quantifying “Personal Equity”, we empower lenders to safely look beyond the constraints of formal credit histories and recognise a borrower’s true creditworthiness.

This capital enables us to accelerate our pan-African expansion while maintaining the robust, institutional-grade infrastructure our partners rely on.”

According to the company, the investment will be used to expand its proprietary credit decisioning infrastructure, enabling financial institutions to assess and extend credit to borrowers who do not have formal credit histories by analysing a wider range of alternative behavioural and transactional data.

Mathesis noted that one of the biggest obstacles to credit access in Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy, is fragmented financial data. Many borrowers demonstrate positive financial behaviour by repaying microfinance loans, saving through fintech wallets, or meeting obligations under Buy Now, Pay Later facilities. However, these financial records often remain inaccessible to new lenders under traditional credit systems.

To address this challenge, the company has developed the concept of Personal Equity, described as the quantified expression of an individual’s financial behaviour aggregated across every institution with which they have transacted. By converting fragmented behavioural and transactional records into a portable measure of creditworthiness, Mathesis said it creates a more comprehensive credit identity that reflects the full scope of a person’s financial activities.

First Ally Capital, which has operated for more than a decade as a financial services group, provides financial solutions across investment banking, asset management, trusteeship, inclusive banking and real estate.

Commenting on the partnership, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Ally Capital, Ebenezer Olufowose, said:

“At First Ally Capital, we pride ourselves on being a one-stop destination for financial solutions, offering a diverse portfolio of services ranging from investment banking and asset management to trusteeship, inclusive banking, and real estate.

“Our investment in Mathesis Analytics reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting technology-led financial services that drive inclusive growth. Mathesis’s pioneering approach to credit decisioning aligns seamlessly with our vision of fostering responsible innovation and creating sustainable, long-term value across the financial ecosystem. We are delighted to partner with a forward-thinking enterprise that is actively redefining credit infrastructure and delivering excellence to the African market.”

Mathesis said financial institutions can implement its infrastructure in two ways: through an Intelligence Layer, which integrates directly via APIs as an analytical plugin to enhance existing software, or as a turnkey platform offering a complete end-to-end lending infrastructure.

The company added that its systems have already supported more than eight million loans for over two million unique borrowers in Nigeria and that it is actively deploying its infrastructure to build a broader pan-African presence.

With the backing of First Ally Capital, Mathesis said it is positioned to reshape the continent’s credit ecosystem by expanding financial inclusion through stronger partnerships with lenders across Africa.
