Creative businesses can get up to ₦1.5m in new grant scheme

The Fegho Umunubo Foundation has opened applications for the second edition of its Grassroots Creative Business Support Initiative (GCBSI), offering grants ranging from ₦1 million to ₦1.5 million to creative entrepreneurs and businesses across Nigeria.

The programme combines financial assistance with business training and practical support to help grassroots enterprises strengthen their operations, attract more customers and achieve sustainable growth.

The latest edition builds on the initiative’s inaugural cycle, which awarded grants of between ₦500,000 and ₦1 million to 22 businesses in February 2026. The beneficiaries operated across various segments of Nigeria’s creative economy.

Explaining the rationale behind the programme, Fegho Umunubo said the increased grant amounts reflect the Foundation’s continued commitment to providing entrepreneurs with funding, knowledge and resources to build sustainable businesses.

“For creative entrepreneurs to truly thrive, access to funding alone is not enough. We need systems in place that support them, equip them with the right knowledge and resources, and serve as a guiding light as they build and grow their businesses,” said Fegho Umunubo.

The initiative is open to businesses in several creative sectors, including media, film and entertainment, fashion, clothing and textiles, handmade products, furniture and interior design, beauty and personal styling, arts and crafts, photography, printing, visual branding, food, baking, videography and home fragrance.

In addition to the grants, selected beneficiaries will receive training in marketing, bookkeeping, pricing and financial literacy. They will also benefit from practical business support designed to improve daily operations and establish a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

According to the Foundation, sustainable business development requires more than access to capital. Entrepreneurs also need the skills and systems to manage their finances effectively, attract customers and expand their ventures.

How to apply

Interested creative entrepreneurs must record a one-minute video introducing their businesses and explaining why they need the grant.

Applicants are required to share the video on Instagram using the hashtag #GCBSI. They should then visit @feghox or @thefeghoumunubofoundation on Instagram and access the application form through the link in the bio.

Applications opened on October 1, 2026, and will close on November 1, 2026.
