AWIEF opens opportunities for African women entrepreneurs in 2026

The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) provides opportunities for women entrepreneurs across Africa to develop their businesses, strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and gain recognition for their achievements.

Through its entrepreneurship programmes, business development initiatives and AWIEF Awards, the organisation supports women-led businesses pursuing innovation, business growth and wider economic impact across the continent.

The AWIEF Awards recognise women entrepreneurs whose work promotes innovation, creates jobs and contributes to Africa’s economic development. Meanwhile, the forum’s accelerator and pitch programmes provide opportunities for participating businesses to improve their operations, access mentorship and explore growth prospects.

Depending on the specific programme, participants may benefit from business development training, mentorship, networking opportunities with investors and industry leaders, as well as greater business visibility and recognition.

Selected winners of pitch competitions may also receive cash prizes. However, a confirmed cash prize or grant amount for the general AWIEF Awards and Accelerator Programme could not be verified. Financial awards may vary by programme, and applicants should consult the relevant official announcement for confirmed details.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements depend on the individual programme or application call. Generally, AWIEF opportunities target African women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses seeking to grow, introduce innovations and expand their impact.

Interested applicants should review the specific requirements for their chosen programme before submitting an application or nomination.
