African women founders can access $5,000 through Her Startup Cohort

African women entrepreneurs can apply for Her Startup Cohort 2.0, a pan-African accelerator offering 12 weeks of business training, a monthly stipend, mentorship and the opportunity to pitch for up to US$5,000 in startup capital.

The programme, delivered through the Founder Institute, supports women-led technology-enabled businesses with existing products and demonstrated revenue. It aims to help founders strengthen their business models, attract investment and scale their operations.

Applications are open to women founders, co-founders and CEOs aged 18–35 who operate businesses based in African countries. Applicants must have a minimum viable product (MVP) or a product already on the market, generate at least US$500 monthly for six consecutive months and demonstrate clear growth potential.

Eligible sectors include healthcare, financial services, education, agriculture, digital services and other technology-enabled industries. Business ideas without an existing product and evidence of revenue do not qualify.

The programme aims to ensure fintech companies account for no more than 20% of selected businesses, while at least 15% of the cohort is expected to come from Francophone Africa. Applications are accepted in English and French.

Selected founders will receive structured training focused on business models, customer understanding, growth strategies and investment readiness. Participants will also receive a stipend during the programme, although the official website does not specify the amount.

Founders who complete the accelerator can pitch to the programme’s Investment Committee for up to US$5,000 in startup capital. The funding is structured as convertible revenue-based financing, not a grant, and completion does not guarantee an award.

Funded founders will receive six months of mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs and industry professionals. Other support includes networking, investor-readiness assistance, co-working space and healthcare coverage.

Interested entrepreneurs can apply through the official Her Startup website. Applicants should ensure they meet the age, location, product and revenue requirements and be prepared to explain their business, target customers, the problem they solve and their growth plans.

The application deadline is October 26, 2026, according to the current opportunity listing. No application fee is listed on the official website.
