The exercise covered parts of Ikorodu and Ikeja, with sanitation teams carrying out cleanup operations and encouraging residents to adopt responsible waste management practices.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, LAWMA’s Executive Director of Finance, Kunle Adebiyi, led the authority’s sanitation team during the exercise in Ikorodu.
The team cleaned Ladega Street and adjoining roads within the Ajina community as part of the statewide environmental sanitation activities.
Adebiyi said the deployment reflected LAWMA’s commitment to supporting the state government’s efforts to maintain a cleaner environment.
He called on residents to sustain the results of the exercise by disposing of refuse appropriately, maintaining clean surroundings and avoiding indiscriminate dumping of waste on roads, drainage channels and other public spaces.
He also emphasised the shared responsibility of businesses, community leaders and residents in maintaining environmental cleanliness, noting that sustainable improvements depend on consistent sanitation practices beyond the monthly exercise.
The Ikorodu exercise was attended by Lagos First Lady, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab; and other senior government officials, including secretaries, directors and environmental health officers.
In Ikeja, LAWMA also supported sanitation operations supervised by Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
The authority’s team conducted cleanup activities around Onilekere, Saidu, Olumo and adjoining streets as part of the exercise.
The deployment forms part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen environmental sanitation across Lagos, with residents urged to maintain clean surroundings and practise proper waste disposal beyond designated sanitation periods.
