Global women’s health startups eligible for $15,000 design grant

Women’s health startups worldwide can apply for the WomanKind Creative Grant 2027, which offers a selected company professional branding and design services valued at US$15,000.

The programme is provided by nonprofit organisation WomanKind Alliance and sponsored by creative agency Alfa Charlie. It aims to help companies developing women’s health solutions establish stronger brand identities and communicate their products and missions to customers, investors and other stakeholders.

Rather than providing cash, the grant covers a six-week professional design partnership scheduled to begin in mid-January 2027. The support includes brand strategy, visual identity development and essential business and marketing materials.

The opportunity is open to startups at different stages, with a particular focus on early-stage and Series A companies gaining traction and preparing to expand.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of the women’s health problem they are addressing and explain why their business needs branding support. Applications will be assessed on originality, potential impact, clarity of purpose, understanding of the problem and the need for a comprehensive brand strategy and visual identity.

Eligible businesses may operate across various areas of women’s health, including femtech, reproductive health, menstrual health, diagnostics and healthcare access.

WomanKind adopts an inclusive definition of women’s health that recognises the experiences of cisgender women, transgender women and non-binary people who identify as women.

What the grant covers

The selected company will receive a six-week branding and design partnership comprising four main components.

The process begins with a six-hour brand strategy workshop covering the company’s core values, target audience, competitors, market positioning, unique strengths and brand personality.

The second component is the development of a visual brand identity, including a logo, colour palette, typography recommendations and other visual elements. The recipient will also receive a Brand Compass Book.

During the final week, designers will develop priority business and marketing materials, which may include pitch decks, packaging and other assets needed to present the company’s products or services.

The package also includes three follow-up consultations. These sessions will allow the recipient to review how the new branding is being implemented, receive feedback and discuss questions that arise. The selected company will not pay the usual cost of the design partnership.

Eligibility and selection process

International applicants, including founders based in Africa, are eligible. However, selected founders must be available for meetings during the organisers’ standard business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

WomanKind typically selects one main winner twice a year. The organisation may also offer microgrants or strategy workshops to other applicants, although these additional opportunities are not guaranteed.

All applicants will be invited to a 30-minute video call by mid-December 2026. The main winner is expected to be notified by December 31, 2026, while other applicants should receive updates in early January 2027.

The successful company must be ready to begin the design partnership in mid-January 2027.

How to apply

Interested startups can submit applications through the official WomanKind Creative Grant page: https://www.designforwomankind.org/creative-grant

Applicants should be prepared to describe their company, the health problem they are addressing, their product or service, their goals and why they need professional branding and design support.

The article provided contains conflicting application deadlines: November 1, 2026, is stated in the main text, while October 23, 2026, appears in its closing note. Applicants should verify the correct deadline on the official grant page before submitting their applications.
