Rotary club surpasses N11m fundraising target for Lagos projects

The Rotary Club of Eko Signature has exceeded its N11 million fundraising target for community projects, with plans to support initiatives addressing maternal healthcare, drainage, sanitation and livelihood opportunities for residents in Lagos.

The club’s Charter President, Rotarian Davina Ogbue, disclosed this during her installation and the club’s Community Eco-Health Gala Night in Lagos.

Ogbue said the club achieved the fundraising milestone despite a change in the date of the event, which affected attendance.

She explained that the club’s approach was to maximise Rotary’s professional networks and affiliations while making effective use of corporate partnerships.

The club has already completed most of its sanitation-related projects at Victoria Island Senior Secondary School, according to Ogbue.

The initiative, sponsored by Dharmatan Nigeria Limited, cost about N2 million and focused on rehabilitating the school’s sewage system and toilet facilities.

Rotarian Adebayo Abass, the club’s Projects Director, said the work included repairing and replacing toilet fittings, tiling, evacuating the septic tank, constructing two sewage inspection chambers and installing a new pipe route to address blockages.
