Applications have opened for the 2026 EAC Youth Fellowship, a regional initiative aimed at engaging and empowering young people to contribute to leadership and regional integration within the East African Community (EAC).
The fellowship is designed to harness the potential of young people and encourage their active involvement in shaping the future of the East African region. Through mentorship, capacity-building activities and networking opportunities, the programme seeks to develop a new generation of leaders committed to regional cooperation and development.
The application deadline is September 7, 2026.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and must be citizens of one of the eligible countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Somalia or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Candidates are also required to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, alongside demonstrated leadership potential. Qualifications or experience related to regional integration, leadership, business, economic governance or other relevant fields are considered highly valuable.
The fellowship is fully funded through the Together for Impact Partnership between the Danida Fellowship Centre and MS TCDC. Selected fellows may also receive a stipend or allowances to support expenses during the fellowship period, with details to be disclosed to successful participants.
Participants will have opportunities to engage with experienced mentors who will offer guidance, support and apprenticeship throughout the fellowship.
The programme will also provide fellows with access to a regional network comprising professionals, policymakers and fellow youth leaders from across the EAC region.
In addition, fellows will take part in workshops, training sessions and seminars focused on strengthening leadership capabilities, improving policy understanding and deepening knowledge of regional integration.
