The Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN) has introduced the WILAN Leadership Suite, a comprehensive digital ecosystem aimed at promoting women’s leadership, increasing civic participation, and improving access to mentorship, career development, and digital safety resources.
The launch comes at a time when concerns continue to grow over the underrepresentation of women in Nigeria’s political leadership. Women currently occupy only about 4.5 per cent of seats in the National Assembly, while 15 state Houses of Assembly have no female lawmakers.
Alongside the unveiling, WILAN also introduced an online advocacy campaign titled “What’s Your Move?” to encourage Nigerians to actively support inclusive leadership by connecting with opportunities available through the new platform.
The Leadership Suite currently consists of three digital platforms designed to address different aspects of leadership development and civic engagement.
One of the platforms, MyDreamGov, enables users to discover and nominate women leaders, gain a better understanding of how government functions, and participate in governance-related conversations.
Another platform, BIIRD, serves as a professional networking hub, providing mentorship opportunities, leadership communities, and AI-powered career guidance for users.
The third platform, the Learn App, offers leadership programmes, masterclasses, and professional development resources tailored to women at different stages of their careers.
WILAN disclosed that the digital ecosystem will continue to expand over the coming months with the addition of ZIMA, an AI-powered civic education and political leadership platform, as well as Nana, an AI-powered digital safety companion created to help women identify, prevent, and respond to technology-facilitated gender-based violence.
According to the organisation, Nana will function independently of the Leadership Suite’s single sign-on system in order to safeguard users’ privacy.
Speaking during the launch, WILAN Founder, Abosede George-Ogan, highlighted the leadership contributions women are already making across the country while stressing the need for greater recognition and support.
“Across Nigeria, women are already leading, solving problems and creating impact every day. We know capable women exist. The question is if we are doing enough to recognise them, support them and open more doors for them to lead,” she said.
George-Ogan said the Leadership Suite was developed to expand access to leadership opportunities while giving citizens practical tools to influence governance.
“If we want better leadership, we must broaden our view of who can lead and give citizens the tools to shape leadership,” she added. “Through the ‘What’s Your Move?’ campaign, we’re inviting every Nigerian to play a part because stronger leadership isn’t only about who steps forward. It’s also about who gets involved and who we choose to recognise, support and champion,” she said.
WILAN stated that the integrated digital ecosystem reflects its commitment to leveraging technology to eliminate barriers to women’s leadership by providing continuous support through learning, mentorship, civic participation, political leadership, and digital safety.
The BIIRD App, Learn App and MyDreamGov are now available to users.
