Ramadan: Barley Charity Foundation aims to feed 15,000 Muslims

With the aim of feeding up to 500 people daily, the Barley Charity Foundation (BCF) has officially begun its annual Ramadan initiative of providing iftar, fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan, at the Egbe Central Mosque in Lagos.
This is part of the BCF’s commitment to tackling hunger within the community.

Speaking at the launch, Founder Chief Mrs. Adeshola Ojo, The Yeye Gbo’baniyi of Egbe Kingdom, spoke passionately about the driving force behind the initiative.

“The hunger I see in our community compels me to take action and make a positive impact,” Chief Mrs. Ojo stated.

“This program ensures that everyone has access to a nourishing meal to
break their fast during this holy month,” she said.
The visionary who shared her inspiration for the initiative, emphasized her strong determination to alleviate this hunger and make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

“This Annual Iftar End of Ramadan Meal is a manifestation of our commitment to creating positive change and addressing the fundamental needs of our community,” Chief Mrs. Ojo assured.

By providing daily iftar, the Foundation is ensuring that those in need have access to essential sustenance during this sacred time.
On the first day, approximately 350 people were served, creating awareness and encouraging participation for the remaining days of Ramadan. The diverse crowd included both young and old, individuals from all walks of life coming together in the spirit of community and shared faith.
Established in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, BCF has undertaken numerous initiatives over the years. These efforts span providing palliative support to community members during the pandemic, offering assistance to the less fortunate, widows, and youth in the vicinity.

Additionally, the foundation has collaborated with medical professionals to conduct free eye screenings and implemented various youth empowerment programs.
The Barley Charity Foundation’s Iftar End of Ramadan Meal has become a beacon of hope and compassion, reflecting the organization’s commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those facing hardship. The foundation looks forward to continued support from the community and hopes to inspire others to join in the spirit of giving.
The Barley Charity Foundation is a Lagos-based non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and poverty within its immediate community. BCF strives to create a positive impact through various initiatives, with a
particular focus on food security during this Ramadan season.
