The Ondo State Government has revealed that its planned 720 metric tons per day (mtpd) oil palm factory projects to deliver about 5000 job opportunities for youths in the state.
This according to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Agriculture and Agric-business, Akin Olotu, is part of the commitment of the governor to the development of agriculture while generating revenue and providing employment for the youths.
Olotu said the government had begun to construct the oil palm factory which would be inaugurated by the governor in a few months.
Olotu, told journalists in Akure, the state capital, adding that the agro factory would be employing over 5,000 workers by the time it begins to operate in the state.
“Something has been signed now, we are constructing the factory, and it would take us a whole year for it to be completed. Governor Akeredolu would inaugurate that factory next year. The factory would produce 30 metric tons of palm oil per hour; 720 metric tons per day.
“By the time it is completed, we will have doctors, nurses’ secondary school, primary school, within the farm because there’s none of them that would have less than 5,000 workers. The oil palm project in Ondo State is a big success.”
On other cash crop production, Olotu explained that the government was ready to collaborate and support all efforts to develop and move the cocoa and cashew industries forward in the state.
