The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has received 25 start-of-the-art operational vehicles from the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa (ASR Africa) Initiative as part of the foundation’s efforts to contribute to boosting the agency’s operations across Nigeria.
The donation to the agency is part of the ASR Africa Security Sector Support Grant (SSSG), which is a security intervention initiative targeted at providing critical assistance to the agency to boost its operational reach and capacity.
While presenting the documents and keys of the vehicles to the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd), the Managing Director of ASR Africa, Ubon Udoh noted that the Founder of the initiative and Chair of BUA Group is “very passionate about giving back to society and has created the initiative to uplift and restore the dignity and lives of Africans”.
“We are very pleased to be here. I want to start by appreciating you and your team for all the collaborations to make this day a reality. This is a testament to your tenacity and will to ensure this handover happens within a short time”, Udoh said.
He further commended the effort of the agency at fighting drug abuse and misuse in the country adding that the donation of the 25 vehicles is aimed at aiding the work that the agency does across the country.
“On behalf of Abdul Samad Rabiu, I can assure you that this is just the beginning of the better things to come”, Udoh noted.
On his part, Marwa appreciated the foundation for the support and redeeming the pledge, while he also promised full and efficient utilization of the operational vehicles donated by ASR Africa.
Udoh also thanked the NDLEA for its support in ensuring the speedy realization of the project, adding that the operational vehicles would assist the agency in the fulfillment of its mandate in the war against drug-related crimes in Nigeria.
ASR Africa had earlier announced the support grant for the armed forces and other security agencies as its aid for security operations across the country.
Beneficiaries of the grant include NDLEA; the Nigerian Navy; the Nigerian Air Force; the Nigerian Army; the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); the Nigerian Customs Service; the Nigerian Immigration Service; the Department of Secret Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
ASR Africa, the brainchild of the Chairman of the BUA Group, was established in 2021 to provide sustainable, impact-based homegrown solutions to developmental issues affecting health, education, and social development within Africa.
