Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently advocated for economic empowerment and social development, especially for those living below the poverty line at LAPO’s Halfyear Business Review held at New Legacy Resort, Abeokuta.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, board members, and LAPO management, who gathered to assess the organization’s performance for the first half of the year and strategize for the remainder of 2024.
In his address, Obasanjo highlighted the importance of sustainable financial solutions for grassroots development, encouraging LAPO to continue its mission making a significant impact on the lives of many. “I am glad to see the strides LAPO has made over the years”.
While commending LAPO’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged, Obasanjo noted, “Your dedication to uplifting the economically disadvantaged through accessible financial services is commendable.”
The review focused on LAPO’s ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering low-income earners, especially women, through microfinance and social intervention programs.
The event featured detailed presentations on LAPO’s financial performance, challenges faced, and strategic goals for the second half of the year. Additionally, discussions included the expansion of LAPO’s services, including healthcare, agricultural support, and educational initiatives aimed at empowering communities.
In response, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at LAPO, Oluremi Akande, expressed gratitude for the visit of the Former Nigerian President, noting that the presence of such a distinguished leader as Chief Obasanjo was an inspiration to all attendees.
Akande remarked, “We are honored to have had former President Obasanjo with us today. His words of encouragement and support reinforce our commitment to our mission.
